Introducing Your Host,
Courtney Burnett

I’m a Disabilities Advocate, IEP Advocate, Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant, and a mom of a child with disabilities.

I am a board-certified special education advocate. I grew up on an IEP for my own learning disability, I also have a non-speaking child who is twenty years old. I became an advocate to help my daughter and other children like her have equal access to their education and community. In 2019 I helped pass a universal changing table bill into law. I know the power of being a parent advocate. I want to help you understand special education to ensure your child's has access to a meaningful education that prepares them for their future.

Introducing Your Host, Jordan LeVan

I’m a Disability and mental health advocate residing in Greensboro, NC.

I graduated from Guilford College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, emphasizing mental health studies. Living with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and multiple disabilities, I have dedicated my life to raising awareness about disabilities while sharing my personal experiences. As the author of the “Jordan’s World” book series, he offers a glimpse into his journey growing up with CAS. Through my social media handle, “Fighting For My Voice,” I help inspire others to embrace their authenticity and navigate their way out of dark places, contributing to a more inclusive world.

Introducing Your Host, Carrie Salz-Iori

I am a Non-attorney Special Education Advocate

I started my journey as an elementary school
teacher in an ICT classroom. I hold a BS in Elementary Education and
an MS in Reading. Throughout my career I attended numerous IEP
meetings but didn’t fully understand the world of special education until
I became a parent. As a parent of a child with learning disabilities, I
learned very quickly that I need guidance navigating Early Intervention,
Preschool services, and district’s special education system. I am
certified advocate under the Council of Parents, Advocates, and
Attorneys and I have completed coursework under the advocate Amy
Trail, FACES. I just completed a year internship with Jordan Christian
L,eVan, I am excited to be part of his advocacy group. I consider
it an honor and privilege to support parents and help children get the
special education services they need.
